Prince of Persia-Sands of time Review and ratings

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a 2010 fantasy adventure film directed by Mike Newell, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan, Gemma Arterton as Princess Tamina, Ben Kingsley as Nizam, and Alfred Molina as Sheik Amar, this the first film directed by Mike Newell to be distributed by Disney. Despite the film being primarily based on The Sands of Time, elements from Warrior Within and The Two Thrones are also incorporated.

PLOT : The plot follows Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal), a street urchin in the Persian Empire in the sixth century. After showing courage in the market place, he is adopted by the king. He grows up as part of the royal family with “no royal blood and no eye for the throne.” Dastan leads an attack to a city ruled by a princess who is said to be a jewel. He manages to open the main gate and prevents further casualties from both sides. Later on, he teams up with Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) to stop a common enemy – the villainous nobleman Nizam (Ben Kingsley) – and to take from him an ancient dagger known as “The Dagger of Time” (a valuable dagger which gives to its owner the ability to go back in time for short periods and change the past) and keep him from generating a sandstorm which could destroy the world.

Prince of Persia movie Review

PrinceofPersia is based on a very popular video game by the same name, “Prince of Persia” was expected to be a summer blockbuster and it had a large following among gamers before the release. However, looking at extra special effects, there is really nothing new one can chew. This remark satisfactorily adding up the whole movie.Nothing a great performance of Gyllenhaal and Arterton except their sexy exploits make a beautiful sight with the rusty settings in the background. Kingsley real fun comes only from Alfred Molina in the form of an opportunistic character named Sheik Amar.Overall it was an enjoyable, fun, action movie and it end up as one of the better adaptations.

Rating 3.5/ 5
